Step into a rewarding contract opportunity supporting high school students in a structured educational environment this fall. As a Special Education Teacher, youll make a tangible difference by focusing on reading interventions and fostering executive functioning skills among students in grades 9 through 12. The position runs full-time from September 2026 through Thanksgiving, with a regular schedule of 7:30 AM to 3:30 PM.
What youll do:
- Manage a caseload of 1620 high school students in need of specialized learning support.
- Provide targeted instruction in reading intervention and study skills, including academic organization and planning strategies.
- Support the development of executive functioning skills to help students thrive academically and personally.
- Develop, implement, and monitor Individualized Education Programs (IEPs); ensure all documentation is compliant with state and district guidelines.
- Collaborate closely with general education staff and multidisciplinary support teams for cohesive student support.
- Track student progress, adjusting instruction to maximize academic gains.
Preferred background and experience:
- Bachelors degree in Special Education or a related field.
- Completion of a state-approved teacher preparation program in special education.
- Active Minnesota teaching license issued by the Professional Educator Licensing and Standards Board.
- Demonstrated proficiency in Standards of Effective Practice and your specific licensure area (such as Learning Disabilities, ABS, or EBD).
- Completed student teaching or practicum in a special education setting.
- Experience supporting high school students, with a focus on reading intervention and/or executive functioning preferred.
- Skilled in IEP development and compliance.
