A school district in Minneapolis, MN is seeking a dedicated Special Education Teacher for a contract position working with 4th grade students at an elementary school. This role focuses on delivering specialized instruction to a caseload of approximately 5-7 students with diverse learning needs. There is potential to support academic groups in other elementary grade levels based on student requirements. The assignment runs from ASAP through June 4, 2026, with a 37.5-hour workweek.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) tailored to each students unique goals and abilities.
- Provide differentiated instruction to meet students academic, social, and behavioral needs.
- Collaborate with classroom teachers, support staff, and families to foster an inclusive learning environment.
- Monitor student progress and modify teaching strategies accordingly.
- Utilize assessment data to inform instruction and communicate student growth regularly.
- Participate in team meetings and professional development opportunities.
Desired Qualifications:
- Valid Minnesota Special Education teaching license.
- Experience teaching elementary-aged students, preferably including 4th grade.
- Strong understanding of special education laws, IEP development, and differentiated instructional strategies.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
- Patience, flexibility, and a positive approach to teaching students with special needs.
Location: Minneapolis, MN
Contract Duration: Immediate start through June 4, 2026
Hours: 37.5 hours per week
