A contract opportunity is available for an experienced Special Education teacher specializing in Setting 4, focused on serving students with the most severe disabilities and highest behavioral needs. This position requires dedication to providing tailored support to help these learners thrive within a structured environment.
Location: Coon Rapids, MN
Start Date: February 9, 2026
End Date: June 5, 2026
Schedule: Approximately 37.5 hours per week with a 30-minute unpaid lunch break
Setting: Special Education Setting 4 (highest behavioral and disability support)
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver specialized instruction and support to students with severe disabilities in alignment with Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
- Manage challenging behaviors using established de-escalation techniques and positive behavior interventions
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to create and implement effective educational plans
- Monitor student progress and maintain accurate records in accordance with district policies
- Provide a safe, nurturing, and structured learning environment tailored to individual student needs
Qualifications:
- Minnesota Tier 3 or Tier 4 teaching license in Special Education (required for consideration)
- Proven experience working with students in Setting 4 or similar high-need environments
- Comfort and commitment to working with students demonstrating severe behavioral challenges
- Strong communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with staff, families, and external professionals
- Reliable transportation for commute to the Coon Rapids location
