Make a difference in the lives of elementary students by stepping into a dynamic Special Education teaching opportunity just outside Millbrook, Alabama. This is a contract position spanning the academic year from early August through late May, offering the chance to develop your skills and build meaningful relationships with students across various classroom environments.
Key Qualifications:
- Must hold a valid Special Education teaching certification (SPED Licensure) for Alabama (verify at: https://tcert.alsde.edu/Portal/Public/Pages/SearchCerts.aspx)
- Experience working with elementary-aged students in special education settings
- Flexibility and adaptability to meet a range of student needs and work within different classroom models (Inclusion, Self-Contained, Behavior Unit)
- Strong communication and collaboration skills for partnering with fellow educators, students, and families
- Passion for fostering supportive, inclusive, and empowering learning environments
Core Responsibilities:
- Provide individualized instruction and support to elementary students with diverse learning needs
- Manage and implement IEPs tailored to each student's goals, ensuring progress is tracked and communicated
- Collaborate with general education staff, administrators, and families to facilitate inclusive practices
- Maintain a safe, positive, and structured classroom atmosphere in a variety of settings (Inclusion, Self-Contained, and Behavior Unit)
- Employ evidence-based strategies, interventions, and assistive technologies when appropriate
- Contribute to school improvement initiatives and attend required meetings as part of a supportive educational team
