Job Description

Step confidently into a contract Special Education teaching role with a school near Midland Park, NJ for the upcoming academic year. Youll work full time from October 8th through April, with potential to extend until June, serving students who thrive with a little extra support. This position is based at one school, collaborating closely in an inclusive setting with a general education teacher, particularly focused on Science and Math.

Youll manage a caseload of up to 8 students with special education needs (maximum classroom size is currently 18, up to 20). The classroom environment is supportive, primarily including students diagnosed with high-functioning autism, and does not involve significant behavioral challenges. The school utilizes the Real Time IEP system to ensure student plans are up to date and effective.

Qualifications & Certifications:

  • Valid TOSD (Teacher of Students with Disabilities) certification required
  • One of the following: K-6, or Math 6-9, or Science 6-9 certification
  • TOH (Teacher of the Handicapped) also accepted
  • Experience or comfort working in co-teaching/inclusion settings
  • Familiarity or willingness to learn the Real Time IEP system

Responsibilities:

  • Co-teach and support instruction in general education Science and Math classes
  • Develop and modify lesson plans to meet individual IEP goals
  • Collaborate reguarly with general education teachers and support staff
  • Foster an inclusive, respectful classroom atmosphere
  • Track progress and document data within the Real Time IEP system
