Job Description

Make a meaningful difference in the lives of students by leading a self-contained Exceptional Student Education (ESE) classroom for the 2026-2027 school year. As a Special Education Teacher in this rewarding contract opportunity, you will support elementary students with diverse learning needs in a collaborative, inclusive educational environment. Youll work full-time at a single school location in the Jacksonville, FL, area, building strong relationships with students, families, and colleagues.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Current Florida ESE certification AND K-6 or PK-3 General Education certification
  • Previous experience teaching in a self-contained classroom setting
  • Strong ability to serve students with varying learning levels and exceptionalities
  • Must complete Florida school district fingerprinting requirements; previous prints may be verified through the AHCA Clearinghouse
  • Prepared to participate in a virtual prescreen interview and provide documentation for an eligibility interview
  • Familiarity with best practices in inclusive education and differentiated instruction

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, implement, and adapt instruction for a diverse group of elementary-age students
  • Create and maintain a positive, supportive, and structured classroom environment
  • Develop and carry out Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) and progress-monitor student goals
  • Collaborate with related service providers and general education teachers
  • Maintain open communication with students families and district staff
  • Support social, emotional, and behavioral growth
  • Participate in professional development and engage in ongoing credentialing as needed
