Step into an impactful role supporting special education across multiple schools as a certified Special Education Teacher. This full-time contract opportunity allows you to make a difference in the lives of students and the educators collaborating with them. Based in the New Orleans area, youll work closely with non-certified teachers, providing expert guidance and hands-on support throughout the academic year.
Key Qualifications:
- Active Louisiana Department of Education teaching certificate with SPED endorsement (absolutely required)
- Demonstrated K-12 special education classroom experience
- Strong understanding of IEP development, data collection, and writing progress reports
- Flexible, organized, and comfortable working in an itinerant role across campuses
- Clear record and ability to complete all background, drug, and fingerprint checks as required by the district
Responsibilities:
- Serve as an itinerant Special Education Teacher across multiple campuses (number determined by district needs)
- Support non-certified teachers in implementing high-quality instructional strategies for students in special education
- Lead and assist with IEP creation and ongoing documentation
- Collect data and track student progress, collaborating closely with school teams
- Guide and mentor teachers on best practices, ensuring compliance and fostering student success
- Communicate professionally with staff and administrators
