Job Description

Make a positive difference in the lives of students as a Special Education Teacher supporting learners across multiple grade levels near Mendocino, CA. This contract opportunity allows you to work with children from early childhood through high school, designing and implementing individualized education programs that cater to a diverse range of needsincluding those in Pre-K, grades K-5, middle school, and high school settings. Subject emphasis may include mathematics as well as a broad curriculum to engage and support each unique learner.

Qualifications and Desired Experience:

  • Valid Special Education teaching certification (state requirements must be met)
  • Experience working with students spanning early childhood, elementary, middle, and high school preferred
  • Familiarity with individualized education plans (IEPs) and best practices for inclusive education
  • Strong classroom management and communication skills
  • Ability to adapt teaching strategies to accommodate various learning styles, including instruction in math and other content areas
  • Commitment to fostering a positive, supportive, and engaging educational environment

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement lesson plans tailored to the needs of each student, addressing IEP goals and measurable objectives
  • Provide targeted instruction in both resource and inclusive classroom settings
  • Collaborate with general education teachers, specialists, and families to ensure consistent support and communication
  • Monitor and document student progress, adapting interventions and strategies as needed
  • Create a classroom climate that encourages participation, independence, and growth
  • Participate in meetings, professional development, and school initiatives to stay informed of best practices
