Job Description

Special Education teaching positions are available for K-12 Adaptive Curriculum classrooms serving students with severe disabilities such as autism spectrum disorder (ASD), developmental delays, non-verbal communication needs, and challenging behaviors. These onsite roles involve working closely with a caseload of approximately 10 students per classroom, supported by paraeducators and behavior specialists including Registered Behavior Technicians (RBTs) and Board Certified Behavior Analysts (BCBAs).

Location: Mebane, NC (Alamance County)
Position Type: Contract, School Year (Dec 1 May 22, 2026)
Hours: MondayFriday, 6.5 hours per day / 35 hours per week

Responsibilities:

Deliver specialized instruction tailored to students with severe disabilities using an adaptive curriculum approach
Manage diverse caseloads across K-12 grade levels
Collaborate with support staff to implement behavior intervention plans and educational strategies
Maintain accurate records and assess student progress regularly
Uphold safe, supportive classroom environments that meet the developmental needs of students

Qualifications:

Must hold an active North Carolina Special Education license specifically for Adapted Curriculum or an active Cross-Categorical Teachers License (mild/moderate disabilities) in NC
Experience working with K-12 students with severe disabilities, including ASD, non-verbal communication, and behavioral challenges
Ability and willingness to work onsite; remote or voice-over communication options are not available due to student needs
Strong collaboration and communication skills to effectively work with multidisciplinary teams
