Job Description

Special Education teaching positions are available for K-12 Adaptive Curriculum classrooms serving students with severe disabilities such as autism spectrum disorder (ASD), developmental delays, non-verbal communication needs, and challenging behaviors. These onsite roles involve working closely with a caseload of approximately 10 students per classroom, supported by paraeducators and behavior specialists including Registered Behavior Technicians (RBTs) and Board Certified Behavior Analysts (BCBAs).

Location: Mebane, NC (Alamance County)
Position Type: Contract, School Year (Dec 1 May 22, 2026)
Hours: MondayFriday, 6.5 hours per day / 35 hours per week

Responsibilities:

  • Deliver specialized instruction tailored to students with severe disabilities using an adaptive curriculum approach
  • Manage diverse caseloads across K-12 grade levels
  • Collaborate with support staff to implement behavior intervention plans and educational strategies
  • Maintain accurate records and assess student progress regularly
  • Uphold safe, supportive classroom environments that meet the developmental needs of students

Qualifications:

  • Must hold an active North Carolina Special Education license specifically for Adapted Curriculum or an active Cross-Categorical Teachers License (mild/moderate disabilities) in NC
  • Experience working with K-12 students with severe disabilities, including ASD, non-verbal communication, and behavioral challenges
  • Ability and willingness to work onsite; remote or voice-over communication options are not available due to student needs
  • Strong collaboration and communication skills to effectively work with multidisciplinary teams
