Essential qualifications and skills:
- Valid Special Education teaching certification (appropriate for the grade level)
- Background in developing and implementing IEPs
- Strong classroom management and differentiation abilities
- Experience working with students with a range of disabilities and learning profiles
- Excellent communication skills for building relationships with students, families, and colleagues
- Adaptability, patience, and a proactive approach to problem-solving
Key responsibilities:
- Design and deliver tailored instruction to meet IEP goals for each student
- Foster a positive, inclusive classroom culture that encourages student participation and social-emotional development
- Collaborate regularly with general education teachers, paraprofessionals, and support staff
- Maintain accurate documentation and progress reports in compliance with all state and federal guidelines
- Engage with families on student progress and partner to develop effective learning strategies
- Attend appropriate meetings, professional development, and training sessions as required
