Job Description
Step into a rewarding role supporting young adults with special needs as a Special Education Teacher focused on transitions, located onsite near Longmont. This full-time contract position runs from ASAP through October 20th, 2026, offering the chance to guide 18- to 21-year-old students as they develop vital job readiness and independence skills both in the classroom and within the community.
Qualifications:
- Colorado Department of Education (CDE) Special Education license or in-process (must provide active license or COOL documentation with your application)
- Minimum of one year of experience in classroom teaching
- Strong commitment to collaborative teamwork and flexibility
- Ability to write, implement, and manage IEPs and BSPs, with careful data collection and adherence to individual student requirements
- Experience or passion for supporting transition-aged students (1821) preferred
Responsibilities:
- Lead a caseload of 12 students at the Transitions Center, helping them build practical, real-world skills for increased independence
- Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs), behavior support plans (BSPs), and collect data to drive effective instructional practices
- Teach job readiness, daily living, and community integration skills in both classroom and real-world environments
- Collaborate closely with colleagues, families, and agencies to support the students transition goals
- Maintain accurate records and ensure compliance with IEP requirements and district policies
