Job Description

Step into a rewarding contract opportunity supporting students as a Special Education Teacher in West Columbia, SC for the upcoming 2024-2025 school year. This position covers a range of needs across elementary, middle, and high school levels, with vacancies in both resource and self-contained classrooms (learning disabilities and emotional disabilities). The assignment offers a full-time schedule between 35-40 hours per week, running from August 7th, 2024 through May 28th, 2025.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Valid Special Education teaching license
  • Current teaching certificate with endorsement in Learning Disabilities or Multicategorical/Special Education
  • Experience with resource and self-contained settings preferred
  • Strong communication and classroom management skills
  • Commitment to fostering inclusive, encouraging learning environments

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide specialized instruction tailored to meet the needs of students in resource and/or self-contained classrooms across K-12
  • Develop and implement Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) and adapt curriculum materials as needed
  • Collaborate with general education teachers, staff, and administration to support student success
  • Maintain ongoing communication with caregivers regarding progress and goals
  • Ensure compliance with district, state, and federal special education policies
  • Participate in required school meetings, training sessions, and school-specific onboarding
