Job Description

Bring your expertise in adaptive special education to high school students who thrive with skilled guidance and compassionate support. This contract position begins April 13 and runs through the end of the school year, offering you the chance to make a significant impact by teaching within a dedicated, collaborative environment. Located near Lexington, NC, you'll work in a high school adaptive classroom with 26 students, sharing responsibilities alongside two experienced colleagues.

Key Qualifications:

  • Current North Carolina Adaptive Special Education license is required
  • Experience teaching high school students in an adaptive, resource, or SPED setting
  • Strong collaboration skills to co-teach and coordinate with fellow SPED teachers
  • Ability to design and adapt individualized education plans (IEPs) for students with diverse instructional needs
  • Familiarity with virtual platforms for meetings/interviews (Interview will be held via Zoom)
  • Excellent communication with students, parents, and support staff

Role Responsibilities:

  • Deliver engaging, differentiated instruction in a high school adaptive SPED classroom setting
  • Share caseload management of 26 students with two other teachers, providing targeted academic and behavioral support
  • Develop, implement, and monitor student IEPs in compliance with state and federal regulations
  • Participate in IEP meetings, student review sessions, and parent communications as needed
  • Uphold school onboarding and compliance processes, including signing district contracts and completing fingerprinting requirements
  • Engage actively in a supportive school community committed to student success
