Job Description

A Special Education Teacher role is available at an elementary school in Lewistown, PA, offering a full-time, contract position for the new school year. This opportunity has opened due to a maternity leave starting imminently, creating the need for a skilled professional to step in promptly and provide essential support to young learners.

Responsibilities:

  • Deliver specialized learning support services in both push-in and pull-out classroom settings.
  • Work with early childhood students requiring learning support without behavior or emotional support needs.
  • Collaborate with classroom staff and aide personnel to ensure effective delivery of educational services.
  • Implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) in accordance with district guidelines.
  • Maintain accurate records of student progress and communicate with parents and school administrators as necessary.

Qualifications:

  • Valid Pennsylvania Special Education teaching certification.
  • Experience working with early childhood or elementary students receiving learning support.
  • Ability to provide both push-in and pull-out instructional services.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills to engage with classroom teams.
  • Flexibility to start as soon as possible and remain through the end of the school year.

Location: Lewistown, PA

The position involves working closely with paraeducators or other support staff provided by the district to ensure students receive comprehensive services. Training and onboarding procedures will be handled by the district, including required background checks prior to starting.
