Job Description
Seeking a dedicated Special Education Teacher to support a diverse caseload of 24 students with various disabilities in an 8th-grade inclusive classroom setting. This contract position is based in La Porte, IN, and offers an opportunity to make a strong impact by delivering individualized education plans (IEPs) and fostering an inclusive learning environment.
Responsibilities include:
- Providing tailored instruction to meet the unique needs of students with disabilities
- Collaborating with general education teachers to support inclusive classroom activities
- Managing a caseload of 24 students, ensuring individualized attention and progress monitoring
- Writing and updating IEPs; a portion of the caseloads IEPs have already been conferenced, enabling a smooth transition
- Participating in team meetings and parent conferences as needed
- Maintaining classroom management and promoting a positive, supportive learning atmosphere
Qualifications:
- Valid Special Education teaching certification
- Experience working with students across a range of disabilities
- Ability to design and implement inclusive educational strategies
- Strong IEP development and documentation skills
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills with staff and families
Schedule and Location:
- Position is located in La Porte, Indiana
- Contract hours approximately 8:35 AM to 4:10 PM
- School hours 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM
- Weekly commitment of 37.5 hours
