Job Description

Step into a meaningful role supporting students with diverse learning needs in a contract Special Education teaching assignment. This position offers the opportunity to make a real difference across school communities near Kenner, LA, with a commitment extending through the school year. Start as soon as possible and continue through late May, working a consistent weekday schedule with 35 hours per week (seven-hour days plus a daily 30-minute unpaid lunch).

Your expertise will play a crucial part in helping each student meet their full potential. The age group and caseload details will be determined, offering the chance to adapt your skills to where they are most needed. Direct collaboration with dedicated professionals ensures ongoing support as you shape each student's educational journey.

Qualifications:

  • Active Louisiana Department of Education Certification with Special Education (SPED) endorsement (required)
  • Immediate availability candidates must currently hold the required certification, out-of-state or in-process licenses not accepted
  • Successful completion of mandatory district-specific credentialing, including drug screening and fingerprinting
  • Strong commitment to tailored instruction, adaptability, and student advocacy

Your Responsibilities:

  • Deliver high-quality, individualized instruction based on each students IEP and needs
  • Maintain effective communication with students, staff, and families
  • Adapt teaching strategies and materials to engage students at various ability levels
  • Act as an advocate for students with special needs, supporting positive, inclusive learning environments
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, participating in meetings and ongoing professional development
