Take the next step in your instructional career as a Special Education Teacher supporting students in a welcoming school environment near Kenner, LA. This contract opportunity spans the 2026-2027 academic year, beginning August 3, 2026, and concluding May 27, 2027. Youll work a consistent, full-time schedule of 35 hours per week, providing essential support to students with diverse learning needs.
As a valued educator, youll collaborate with school staff to develop and implement individualized education plans, fostering a positive and inclusive classroom culture. Your expertise will be instrumental in helping students achieve both academic and social milestones. Exact school sites and caseload details will be determined prior to assignment.
Desired Qualifications:
- Hold an active Louisiana Department of Education Teaching Certificate with a Special Education endorsement
- Experience as a Special Education Teacher in a school setting preferred
- Familiarity with developing and executing IEPs, adapting curriculum, and conducting progress assessments
- Ability to work collaboratively with teachers, paraprofessionals, and families
- Must complete district-specific drug screening and fingerprinting as part of the credentialing process
- Only currently certified candidatessubstitute or temporary credentials not accepted
Primary Responsibilities:
- Deliver individualized and group instruction to students with special needs
- Develop, monitor, and update IEPs according to student progress
- Maintain clear, ongoing communication with families and multidisciplinary teams
- Create supportive, engaging learning environments tailored to student capabilities
- Maintain accurate records and uphold confidentiality standards
