Job Description

This contract role offers experienced special education professionals the opportunity to work with middle and high school students in a cross-categorical program, employing inclusive practices to foster growth and achievement for all.

In this unique setting, youll facilitate instruction for students with a range of mild-to-moderate disabilities, including learning disabilities, behavioral and emotional challenges, and mild intellectual disabilities. The program encourages teachers to combine skillsets and serve students based on their individual needs, rather than categorizing by diagnosis, making adaptability, creativity, and strong communication essential.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Wisconsin Cross-Categorical Special Education certification (License #2801) required
  • Extensive experience supporting individuals with autism
  • Background working with both middle and high school students preferred
  • Ability to implement differentiated instruction and behavior supports
  • Collaborative spirit and willingness to partner with general education staff, families, and related service providers
  • Strong organizational and documentation skills

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide direct instruction in academic, behavioral, and social-emotional areas
  • Develop, monitor, and update IEPs in collaboration with a multidisciplinary team
  • Adapt curriculum and utilize a toolbox of strategies tailored to varied learning profiles
  • Foster a safe, respectful learning environment that values diversity and inclusion
  • Communicate effectively with students, families, and colleagues to support student goals

This contract position runs from August 18, 2026, through June 10, 2027, offering the satisfaction of guiding students through a pivotal school year.
