This opportunity offers multiple Special Education teaching positions open for travel professionals in Kansas City, KS, specializing in K-12 resource and self-contained classrooms. Starting ASAP through May 22, 2026, there are 14 vacancies across various schools seeking dedicated educators with active Kansas licensure.
Positions Available:
- Life Skills Teachers (2) at Caruthers Elementary
- Autism Teacher (1) at Douglas Elementary
- Life Skills/Medically Fragile Teacher (1) at Frances Willard
- Structured Learning Classroom (SLC) Teachers at Lowell Brune, New Chelsea, Stony Point South, Welborn Elementary, Argentine, Central, Eisenhower (1 position each)
- Medically Fragile Teacher (1) and Life Skills/SAILS Teacher (1) at Silver City
- Behavioral Support Classroom (BSC) Teacher (1) at Arrowhead
Caseload sizes typically range from 8 to 18 students, providing opportunities to make meaningful impacts on individual student outcomes.
Qualifications and Requirements:
- Must hold an active Kansas Special Education teaching license and be prepared to provide a copy upon assignment
- Experience working with diverse disabilities and instructional settings in special education
- Ability to manage classrooms focusing on life skills, autism, medically fragile students, and behavioral support
- Flexibility to work in multiple school environments ranging from elementary through high school
Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement individualized education programs (IEPs)
- Collaborate with general education staff and families to support student progress
- Maintain documentation and participate in assessments for compliance and accountability
- Adapt curricula and instructional strategies to meet student needs in resource and self-contained settings
