A variety of Special Education teaching opportunities are available within a K-12 public school district in Kansas City, KS. These contract positions offer educators the chance to work in both resource and self-contained classrooms, supporting students with diverse learning needs ranging from Life Skills to Autism and Medically Fragile populations.
Positions Available (14 Total):
- Life Skills Teachers (2) Caruthers Elementary
- Autism Teacher (1) Douglas Elementary
- Life Skills/Medically Fragile Teacher (1) Frances Willard
- Structured Learning Classroom (SLC) Teachers (7) Lowell Brune, New Chelsea, Stony Point South, Welborn Elementary, Argentine, Central, Eisenhower
- Medically Fragile Teacher (1) Silver City
- Life Skills/SAILS Teacher (1) Silver City
- Behavior Support Classroom (BSC) Teacher (1) Arrowhead
Caseload sizes typically range between 8 and 18 students.
Key Qualifications:
- Active Kansas teaching license in special education (must provide a copy upon onboarding)
- Experience teaching students with diverse special education needs, including resource and self-contained settings
- Ability to develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs)
- Strong classroom management and collaboration skills with support staff and families
Responsibilities:
- Deliver specialized instruction tailored to individual student needs across K-12 levels
- Maintain accurate documentation and progress reports aligned with state and federal requirements
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to support student growth and compliance
- Create a positive and inclusive classroom environment
Location: Kansas City, Kansas
