Special Education Teacher Responsibilities

• Provide specialized instruction to elementary students with disabilities

• Develop and implement instruction aligned with students' IEP goals

• Adapt lessons, curriculum, and instructional materials to meet individual student needs

• Create a positive, structured, and inclusive classroom environment

• Monitor student progress and maintain accurate documentation

• Participate in IEP meetings and contribute to student planning

• Collaborate with general education teachers, administrators, related service providers, and families

• Support students' academic, behavioral, social, and emotional development

• Maintain compliance with school policies and special education requirements

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Special Education or a related field

• Valid Georgia Special Education teaching certification or eligibility to obtain certification

• Previous experience working with elementary students preferred

• Experience working with students with disabilities preferred

• Strong classroom management and communication skills

• Ability to work collaboratively with students, families, and school staff

• Passion for helping students achieve their academic and personal goals
