Make a meaningful difference each day working with elementary-aged students as a Special Education Teacher in an engaging school community for the 2026/2027 school year. Your commitment includes a 40-hour workweek, Monday through Friday from 7:15 am to 4:15 pm. You'll serve a caseload typical for special education roles, collaborating closely with staff and families to foster a supportive, inclusive learning atmosphere.
Desired Qualifications:
- Valid New York Special Education Teacher license
- Certification to teach grades 1-6
- Experience or knowledge of best practices in special education for elementary students
- Ability to create and implement individualized education plans (IEPs)
- Strong communication, collaboration, and organizational skills
- Passion for helping each student thrive academically, socially, and emotionally
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and deliver engaging lessons tailored to diverse learning styles and abilities
- Create a safe, positive, and structured classroom environment
- Maintain and update IEPs in compliance with state and federal guidelines
- Work collaboratively with general education teachers, aides, and related service providers
- Communicate consistently with families about student progress and needs
- Participate in professional development and school-wide activities
