Job Description

Make a meaningful impact as a Special Education Teacher supporting young learners in an elementary school setting near Inkster, MI. This contract position focuses on guiding students in kindergarten through first grade with Autism Spectrum Disorder. Youll be working directly with a small caseload of seven students while collaborating with a dedicated team and two paraprofessionals in your classroom. Strong support from both the building staff and experienced special education colleagues ensures a collaborative and encouraging environment.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Valid state teaching certification in Special Education
  • Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) endorsement required
  • Experience working with elementary-age students, especially in self-contained settings or inclusive classrooms
  • Solid understanding of IEP development, progress monitoring, and data-driven instruction
  • Demonstrated ability to individualize instruction and behavior support plans
  • Strong communication skills to partner effectively with paraprofessionals, support staff, and families
  • Ability to work onsite, full time

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver individualized and small-group instruction aligned with IEP goals for students with ASD
  • Collaborate with paraprofessionals by modeling best instructional and behavioral strategies
  • Assess student progress and participate in ongoing IEP meetings and data collection
