Key Qualifications & Desired Experience:

  • Valid Special Education teaching certification
  • Experience working with students with severe cognitive impairments preferred
  • Knowledge of implementing Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
  • Strong classroom management and communication skills
  • Ability to adapt curriculum and teaching strategies to meet unique student needs
  • Passion for fostering growth, self-advocacy, and independence in students
  • Commitment to fostering a positive, inclusive classroom climate

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Design and deliver instruction tailored to students with severe cognitive impairments in a self-contained setting
  • Develop, implement, and track progress on IEPs in collaboration with families and support staff
  • Employ effective teaching strategies, materials, and technology to enhance learning
  • Partner closely with families, paraprofessionals, and related service providers
  • Create a safe, structured, and welcoming environment for all learners
  • Document progress and maintain accurate records according to school and district policies
  • Participate in ongoing professional development and team meetings
