Key Qualifications & Desired Experience:
- Valid Special Education teaching certification
- Experience working with students with severe cognitive impairments preferred
- Knowledge of implementing Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
- Strong classroom management and communication skills
- Ability to adapt curriculum and teaching strategies to meet unique student needs
- Passion for fostering growth, self-advocacy, and independence in students
- Commitment to fostering a positive, inclusive classroom climate
Primary Responsibilities:
- Design and deliver instruction tailored to students with severe cognitive impairments in a self-contained setting
- Develop, implement, and track progress on IEPs in collaboration with families and support staff
- Employ effective teaching strategies, materials, and technology to enhance learning
- Partner closely with families, paraprofessionals, and related service providers
- Create a safe, structured, and welcoming environment for all learners
- Document progress and maintain accurate records according to school and district policies
- Participate in ongoing professional development and team meetings
