Step into a rewarding opportunity supporting elementary students in a self-contained, onsite classroom setting. This full-time contract position offers a chance to make a meaningful impact on children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), providing tailored education and fostering growth across academic, social, and life skills.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement individualized education programs (IEPs) for each student based on specific needs
- Design differentiated instruction using evidence-based practices for students with ASD
- Establish a structured classroom environment accommodating communication, behavior, and sensory requirements
- Utilize data collection and progress monitoring to adjust instruction and interventions
- Collaborate closely with special education staff, general education teachers, therapists, and families
- Implement behavior intervention plans (BIPs) and positive behavior supports to promote student success
- Support students in enhancing communication, social, and independent living skills
- Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and district special education laws and guidelines
Required Qualifications:
- Masters degree in Social Work (MSW) from an accredited institution
- Approval as a School Social Worker in Michigan
- Strong background in Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS), trauma-informed approaches, and social-emotional learning
- Highly effective communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills
- Authorization to work in the United States
- Successful completion of background check and drug screening
