Requirements and Preferred Experience:

  • Current and valid North Carolina Special Education (SPED) licensure
  • Experience working with elementary-age children, particularly in adaptive or self-contained classroom settings
  • Strong understanding of IEP development, implementation, and progress monitoring
  • Capacity to collaborate effectively with paraprofessionals, support staff, and families
  • Positive, student-centered attitude and dedication to fostering an inclusive learning environment
  • Ability to manage and organize caseload across two school sites

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop, implement, and adapt instructional strategies to meet each student's educational needs
  • Collaborate with support personnel such as paraprofessionals and clinical staff provided by the district
  • Maintain accurate records, including student progress documentation and compliance with state and federal regulations
  • Participate actively in IEP meetings, team conferences, and professional development
  • Foster a nurturing, safe, and positive classroom environment for all learners
