Job Description

Embark on a rewarding contract opportunity as a Special Education Teacher specializing in social-emotional and behavioral support for elementary students. This full-time role is based near Hartford, CT, with a single school assignment in a dedicated classroom for grades 35. Assignment runs from ASAP to June 13, 2026, with continuation from September 1, 2026, to October 15, 2026. The schedule is Monday through Friday, 8:20 am to 3:40 pm, allowing for consistency and daily engagement with your students.

Qualifications:

  • Current Connecticut Special Education (CT SPED) license required
  • Previous experience working in special education, preferably with social-emotional and behavioral needs
  • Proficiency in preparing and following IEPs and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams
  • Strong communication and organizational skills
  • Dedication to fostering a supportive, inclusive classroom environment

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide targeted instruction and behavioral support in a self-contained classroom for grades 35
  • Collaborate with school staff and families to create and implement individualized education plans
  • Track and assess student progress, adjusting strategies for optimal learning outcomes
  • Foster a nurturing atmosphere that encourages student engagement and growth
  • Participate in staff meetings, professional development, and IEP meetings as needed
