Job Description:
An excellent opportunity is available for Special Education Teachers supporting students in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. Multiple full-time positions are available across elementary, middle, and high school settings, including Autism Support and Learning Support classrooms. Autism Support classrooms have no more than eight students with two to three paraprofessionals supporting each classroom. Teachers will receive new-hire training and ongoing support from autism coaches while working with a collaborative and supportive school team.
Qualifications:
- Active Pennsylvania Special Education teaching license
- Experience working with students with autism or significant learning needs preferred
- Strong classroom management and instructional skills
- Ability to develop and implement individualized education programs (IEPs)
- Experience writing and facilitating IEP meetings preferred
- Strong communication and collaboration skills
Responsibilities:
- Provide specialized instruction in Autism Support or Learning Support classrooms
- Develop and implement IEPs aligned with individual student goals
- Write and maintain required special education documentation
- Lead and participate in IEP meetings
- Adapt curriculum and instructional strategies to meet individual student needs
- Collaborate with paraprofessionals, autism coaches, general education teachers, and related service providers
- Monitor student progress and adjust instruction as needed
- Participate in required orientation and new-hire training
