Job Description
A K-12 school in Columbia, PA, is seeking a skilled Special Education Teacher to support middle school students in grades 7 and 8 within an emotional support classroom. This contract role runs for the current school year and offers a structured weekday schedule from 7:30 a.m. to 3:10 p.m.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) tailored to approximately 13 middle school students with emotional support needs.
- Collaborate with classroom teachers, support staff, and families to ensure effective educational and behavioral strategies.
- Monitor student progress and adjust instructional methods to meet diverse learning needs.
- Maintain accurate records in compliance with state regulations and district policies.
- Foster a safe, inclusive, and supportive learning environment that promotes student growth and independence.
Qualifications:
- Valid Pennsylvania Special Education certification and SE credentials are required.
- Experience working with middle school students, particularly in emotional support or related special education settings.
- Strong communication and organizational skills with the ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team.
- Commitment to providing individualized support and accommodations to students with diverse abilities.
