Job Description

You will provide direct academic and behavioral assistance to a high-functioning, verbal student presenting significant physical aggression. After less success in a self-contained setting, the student requires individualized instruction and skilled guidance to thrive. A paraprofessional and another educator will work alongside you, and the district will offer restraint training if needed. The focus will be on behavior management and enhancing progress in reading.

Qualifications:

  • Valid Georgia Teaching Certificate (GaPSC)
  • Elementary Special Education Certification
  • Proven experience working with students who display physically aggressive behaviors
  • Strong background in behavioral support and reading interventions
  • Experience in school settings, particularly with individualized student programs
  • Excellent teamwork and communication abilities
  • Reliable transportation
  • Willingness to work fully onsite

Role Responsibilities:

  • Deliver one-on-one academic instruction and behavioral support to a 5th-grade student
  • Develop and implement structured behavioral and academic plans
  • Collaborate closely with paraeducators and other staff
  • Participate in provided restraint training, if required
  • Maintain clear and ongoing communication with school staff and family
  • Document progress, challenges, and effective interventions

Assignment Details:

  • Full-time, Monday to Friday (37.5 hours per week)
  • Contract runs ASAP through 5/20/2026, with strong possibility to extend into the 2026/27 school year
  • Onsite requirementno remote option
