Step into an impactful and rewarding contract role supporting students with visual impairments in a vibrant educational environment. This position is located in the Greenville area and involves working with a close-knit team to deliver specialized instruction as a Teacher for the Visually Impaired. You'll be assigned to one school with a full-time schedule, focusing on a diverse caseload of approximately 35 students across multiple age groups.
Your expertise will directly influence the academic growth and independence of students, utilizing your specialized skills to foster inclusive learning experiences.
Desired Qualifications:
- Active North Carolina Teacher of the Visually Impaired (NC TVI) certification required
- Previous experience teaching students with visual impairments, preferably in a school setting
- Strong communication, collaboration, and organizational abilities
- Creative approach to lesson planning and accessible instruction
- Ability to be flexible and adapt to individual student needs
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide direct instruction and support to students with visual impairments
- Collaborate with classroom teachers, support staff, and families to ensure learning goals are met
- Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs)
- Conduct and adapt assessments to monitor progress
- Advocate for accessible learning materials and environments
- Maintain detailed records and documentation in accordance with district requirements
