A Waukegan-area intermediate school is seeking a Special Education Teacher to lead a Cross Categorical classroom serving students with a range of academic, behavioral, and developmental needs. Position Overview:
This Cross Categorical classroom supports intermediate school students who require specialized instruction, accommodations, and behavioral supports across multiple content areas. The teacher will play a central role in delivering differentiated instruction and ensuring IEP goals are effectively implemented.

Key Responsibilities:

• Deliver individualized and small-group instruction aligned with student IEP goals
• Manage a Cross Categorical classroom supporting students with diverse learning needs
• Implement behavior support plans and positive intervention strategies
• Collaborate with general education staff to support inclusion opportunities when appropriate
• Participate in IEP meetings and contribute to goal development and progress monitoring
• Maintain accurate documentation, progress reports, and compliance with special education regulations

Required Qualifications:

• Valid Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) with LBS1 endorsement (required)
• Experience working with middle school or intermediate-aged students preferred
• Background in Cross Categorical, self-contained, or resource settings strongly preferred
• Strong organizational skills and ability to manage a multi-level instructional environment
• Commitment to student-centered, data-driven instruction
