Key Qualifications:
- Valid Michigan Teaching Certificate with preferred endorsements in Emotional Impairment (EI), Cognitive Impairment (CI), Learning Disabilities (LD), or MDE ZA (Early Childhood) plus another Special Education area
- Experience or strong understanding of the challenges faced by students in urban environments
- Familiarity with MARSE (Michigan Administrative Rules for Special Education) and related IDEA federal regulations
- Commitment to individualized learning and collaborative teamwork
- Official university transcripts required prior to district submission
- Ability to work full-time onsite, with a genuine desire to make a difference in students' lives
Responsibilities:
- Provide direct instructional support to students in self-contained and resource classrooms (caseloads may vary)
- Design and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) tailored to student needs
- Collaborate closely with paraeducators, behavior specialists, and the broader special education team to deliver comprehensive supports
- Participate in professional development and ongoing training provided by the Academics team and school mentors
- Foster inclusive, supportive classroom environments that encourage student growth and resilience
