Job Description

Make an immediate impact in the lives of students as a Special Education Teacher within a thriving school district near Glendale, AZ. This is a contract, onsite position offering multiple opportunities for dedicated educators to support high-priority life skills/transition programs and structured intensive support classrooms. Various roles are open, each tailored to educators with specific skill sets and interests, particularly those who are committed to positive student growth and inclusive education.

Preferred candidates live within a 30-minute commute of Fairfax, Central, or Hayden locations, and demonstrate flexibility as assignments may be distributed across multiple sites within the district.

Key Qualifications:

  • Hold a valid Standard Arizona Secondary Teaching License
  • Possess a current K-12 Special Education Certificate
  • Maintain an active IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card
  • Experience working with students with emotional disabilities, Autism Spectrum, or those requiring intensive behavioral and social-emotional supports
  • Understanding of needs for at-risk, limited English proficient, or exceptional students
  • Demonstrated proficiency in developing and implementing special services activities/documents aligned with federal, state, and district standards
  • Willingness to complete Essential Elements of Effective Instruction (E.E.E.I.) training or participate in professional development as needed

Role Responsibilities:

  • Manage full-time caseloads in inclusion, SUCCESS, practical, CBT (life skills/transition/functional academics), or STRIVE (self-contained/autism/intensive classrooms)
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to create effective Individualized Education Plans (IEPs)
  • Deliver differentiated instruction and behavior support tailored to diverse student needs
  • Foster a safe, respectful, and productive classroom environment
  • Participate in CIE (July 21-24), staff return July 27, with the academic year running through May 21, 2027
