Key Qualifications:
- Valid Special Education teaching certification (appropriate for the state)
- Experience working with children and adolescents with a range of disabilities
- Knowledge of current IEP processes, special education laws, and best instructional practices
- Strong communication, collaboration, and organizational skills
- Ability to adapt teaching strategies to accommodate diverse learning needs
- Comfortable with documentation and progress reporting requirements
Primary Responsibilities:
- Develop, implement, and evaluate Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) for assigned students
- Provide tailored instruction in individual, small group, or classroom settings
- Collaborate with general education teachers, support staff, and families to support student learning
- Maintain accurate records and data on student progress and behavior
- Create an inclusive, positive classroom atmosphere that encourages participation and growth
- Actively participate in IEP meetings and contribute to multidisciplinary team discussions
- Stay up-to-date with best practices and participate in available professional development
