Job Description

A full-time Special Education Teacher is needed to support elementary students in Augusta, ME. This contract position will span the next school year, offering a consistent 37.5-hour workweek from 8:00 AM to 3:30 PM, with occasional late afternoons dedicated to IEP meetings and bi-monthly staff gatherings.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver specialized instruction tailored to the unique needs of students with disabilities.
  • Develop, implement, and monitor Individualized Education Programs (IEPs).
  • Collaborate with general education teachers, support staff, and families to ensure student success.
  • Participate in regular professional development and staff meetings.
  • Maintain accurate and thorough student records in compliance with state regulations.

Qualifications:

  • A valid Maine Special Education License is required. Acceptable endorsements include:
    • 282B Early Childhood Special Education (Birth5)
    • 282E Special Education (K8)
    • 282 Certification
  • Demonstrated experience in special education within an elementary setting is highly desirable.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
