This full-time, school-based contract role focuses on delivering individualized instruction and behavioral supports to young learners who benefit from a self-contained environment designed to foster growth in academic, communication, and life skills.
In this position, you'll take the lead in shaping educational and developmental outcomes for students with varying communication, cognitive, behavioral, and social-emotional needs. You'll be part of a highly collaborative support system, working alongside dedicated professionals to ensure every student thrives.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement Individualized Education Programs tailored to each students strengths and needs
- Deliver effective direct instruction aligned with state standards and individual goals
- Employ evidence-based strategies designed for students with Autism Spectrum Disorder
- Implement and monitor Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports (PBIS) and Behavior Intervention Plans (BIPs)
- Maintain rigorous data collection and accurate compliance documentation
- Foster student communication, social interaction, self-regulation, and independence
- Supervise and support classroom paraprofessionals, providing leadership and guidance
- Partner with related service providers and families to create a holistic support team
- Create and sustain a secure, engaging, and supportive classroom environment
Qualifications:
- Current Virginia Special Education Teaching License or eligibility for licensure
- Expertise in IEP development, implementation, and documentation
- Proficient in classroom management and behavioral supports
- Strong team collaboration and family communication skills
Preferred Experience:
- Previous teaching experience with students with Autism Spectrum Disorder
- Familiarity with ABA, structured teaching, and visual supports
- Training in crisis prevention or de-escalation techniques
