In this role, youll be at the forefront of elementary-level special education, supporting a self-contained behavior class with a small group of students and collaborative paraprofessional support. As you engage with diverse school staff, youll build relationships across different practices and leadership stylesperfect for expanding your professional skills and resume. Qualifications/Requirements:
- Valid North Carolina Special Education Teacher license (NC SPED required)
- Experience with elementary grade levels; self-contained or behavioral classroom preferred
- Professional background in managing small student caseloads and collaborating with support staff (paraprofessionals)
- Strong communication and adaptability skills
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead a self-contained behavior class of 6 elementary students, utilizing positive behavioral interventions
- Collaborate closely with two paraprofessionals
- Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs)
- Maintain accurate records and promote an inclusive and supportive classroom culture
