Key Qualifications:

• Valid Michigan Teaching Certificate with a Learning Disabilities (LD), Emotional Impairment (EI), Cognitively Impaired (CI), or MDE ZA (Early Childhood) endorsement (with additional Special Education area preferred)
• Experience supporting students in urban educational environments strongly valued
• K-12 classroom teaching experience, including cognitive or learning disabilities
• Understanding of Michigan Administrative Rules for Special Education (MARSE) and IDEA Federal Regulations
• Ability to provide appropriate resources and strategies for students and families in urban communities
• Bachelors degree in Special Education or related field; official university transcripts required before placement
• Comfortable working onsite and collaborating with cross-disciplinary teams

Role Highlights:

• Shape and deliver individualized instruction in self-contained or resource settings for a maximum of 22 students per class
• Support cognitive impairment or learning disabilities caseloads with guidance from experienced special education teams
• Collaborate daily with classroom and 1:1 paraprofessionals, behavior specialists, and special education leadership
• Participate in ongoing mentoring, academic training, and professional development
• Maintain robust communication with families, staff, and district teams to champion student success
• Contribute positively to a supportive, urban school environment
