Job Description
A Special Education Teacher with expertise in Life Skills is needed to support students in a self-contained classroom for grades K-2 at an elementary school in Indianapolis, IN. This full-time contract position during the current school year offers a rewarding opportunity to make a significant impact on young learners with special needs.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) tailored to students in a life skills caseload.
- Provide specialized instruction to students in a self-contained K-2 classroom setting.
- Collaborate with teachers, therapists, and families to support student growth and development.
- Monitor and assess student progress, adjusting instruction accordingly.
- Maintain detailed records and documentation in compliance with educational guidelines.
- Foster a supportive and inclusive classroom environment.
Qualifications:
- Valid special education teaching certification.
- Experience working with life skills students in early childhood or elementary settings.
- Strong understanding of individualized instruction techniques and special education laws.
- Ability to communicate effectively with students, parents, and multidisciplinary teams.
