Multiple vacancies are available across self-contained and resource classrooms, serving students with cognitive impairments, emotional impairments, and learning disabilities. Openings include:
- Five Cognitive Impairment roles (K-12th grade, self-contained classrooms, max 22 students)
- One Emotional Impairment role (Middle school, self-contained classroom, max 22 students)
- Five Resource Classroom roles for K-12th, requiring Learning Disabilities, Emotional Impairment, or Cognitive Impairment endorsements
What makes these roles unique:
- Assignments run from August 17th to June 11th, following the academic year
- Full-time contract, 35 hours weekly
- Onsite positions in urban districtsvirtual work is not available
- Caseloads may vary depending on student needs
- Remote interview process for your convenience
Desired qualifications:
- Michigan Teaching Certificate (Learning Disabilities endorsement typical)
- Strongly preferred: Emotional Impairment (EI), Cognitive Impairment (CI), or MDE endorsement ZA (Early Childhood) with another special education area
- Prior experience working with students with a variety of special needs
- Ability and enthusiasm for engaging with diverse urban student populations
- Willingness to submit official university transcripts upon offer
