Key Qualifications:
- Valid Special Education Teaching certification relevant to K-5 or eligibility for licensure in Connecticut
- Previous experience working with students on the autism spectrum, preferably in intensive or self-contained settings
- Strong understanding of individualized education plans (IEPs) and experience in developing and implementing effective strategies
- Ability to foster a supportive, inclusive, and structured classroom environment
- Excellent communication skills and a collaborative approach with team members, families, and support staff
Primary Responsibilities:
- Deliver specialized instruction tailored to the unique needs of K-5 students in an intensive autism classroom
- Develop, implement, and monitor IEPs, collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to ensure student progress
- Employ evidence-based interventions, data collection, and positive behavioral supports
- Modify curriculum and provide accommodations to facilitate student participation and success
- Engage in ongoing communication with parents and guardians regarding student achievements and areas of growth
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date academic and behavioral records
