Job Description
A Special Education Teacher is needed for an intensive autism classroom serving students in grades K-5. This contract position is based in Fairfield, CT, and focuses on providing specialized instruction tailored to meet the needs of young learners with autism.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver individualized instruction and support to students with autism within a K-5 intensive classroom setting
- Develop and implement education plans that align with students unique learning goals and IEPs
- Monitor student progress and maintain accurate documentation to inform instructional adjustments
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including therapists, families, and other educators to ensure comprehensive care and education
- Create a positive, structured, and supportive learning environment that encourages student growth and development
Desired Qualifications and Experience:
- Certification in Special Education with experience servicing students on the autism spectrum
- Proven ability to manage and instruct an intensive autism classroom effectively
- Strong understanding of behavioral strategies and specialized teaching methodologies appropriate for K-5 students
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills to work closely with staff and families
- Commitment to fostering inclusive and adaptive educational practices
