Step into a rewarding contract opportunity supporting students as a Special Education Teacher with expertise in Developmental Cognitive Disabilities (DCD). In this impactful onsite position, youll work closely with a dedicated group of approximately nine students, fostering growth and meaningful progress throughout the school year.
Your days will be spent at a vibrant elementary setting, focusing on developing and implementing individualized education plans, collaborating with staff, and maintaining supportive classroom environments. This is a full-time role for the 2026-2027 school year, running Monday through Friday, roughly 8:30 am to 4:30 pm, with a 30-minute unpaid lunch, providing structure while allowing you to develop strong, consistent relationships with your students.
Qualifications:
- Valid Minnesota Teaching Certification is required (please attach a copy when applying)
- Tier 3 or 4 Special Education licensure, specifically for DCD or related categories
- Previous experience serving as a Special Education Teacher, particularly with students with Developmental Cognitive Disabilities, is strongly preferred
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills to partner with families and multidisciplinary teams
- Strong organizational skills to manage caseload and documentation requirements
- Commitment to fostering inclusive, student-centered learning environments
Responsibilities:
- Develop, implement, and evaluate Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) for students with DCD
- Provide direct instruction, support, and adaptive interventions tailored to students unique abilities and needs
- Monitor and document student progress, adapting strategies as necessary
- Collaborate with general education teachers, paraprofessionals, and related service providers
- Communicate regularly and proactively with families
- Create a classroom atmosphere that encourages student engagement, independence, and positive behavior
