Job Description

Make a meaningful impact supporting students ages 13 to 18 in a specialized classroom setting. This contract opportunity focuses on providing high-quality educational experiences to learners in grades 8 through 12+ at a single school. The assignment runs from as soon as possible through June, Monday through Friday, 8AM to 3PM, with a consistent 35 hours per week.

In this role, youll work with a manageable caseload of 8 students, ensuring each learners individual needs are met, and taking part in a collaborative team that values dedication and compassion. Day-to-day, youll implement and monitor Individualized Education Programs (IEPs), using the districts preferred IEP system, and participate in contract review processes and board meetings as needed.

Qualifications:

  • Active New Jersey Teacher of Students with Disabilities (TOSD) Certification
  • Experience teaching special education at the middle and/or high school level
  • Familiarity with IEP development, implementation, and documentation
  • Ability to engage students with diverse learning needs in a supportive environment
  • Strong organizational skills and adaptability in an itinerant setting
  • Must complete credentialing requirements (such as fingerprints, background checks per state and district policies)

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver targeted instruction in accordance with each students IEP
  • Monitor and document progress, collaborating with other educators and support staff
  • Communicate regularly with families and participate in meetings as required
  • Maintain accurate records and uphold compliance standards
  • Travel within the school as needed (itinerant), with potential mileage reimbursement
