Job Description

Make a significant difference in the lives of students by supporting their growth and success as a contract Special Education Teacher. Working onsite, you will collaborate with a dedicated school community to provide essential services and individualized instruction in both inclusion/resource settings and structured classrooms.

This opportunity spans from August 2026 through May 2027, with four distinct openings available, working 35 hours per week. Possible placements include Hall Elementary, Reskin Elementary, and Marquardt Middle School. Across these sites, you'll engage with small caseloadsranging from 5 to 10 studentsallowing you to build meaningful connections and customize learning experiences. Settings vary from co-taught ELA to high-incidence structured classrooms, and support from paraprofessionals is available in select rooms.

Preferred candidates are experienced in managing diverse behaviors, remain flexible with student needs, and are comfortable providing assistance such as toileting when necessary. An active PEL LBS1 certification is required for this position.

Key Qualifications:

  • Active Illinois Professional Educator License with LBS1 endorsement
  • Experience providing special education services in K8 settings
  • Strong collaboration and communication abilities
  • Ability to adapt instruction for varied learning and behavioral needs
  • Willingness to provide personal care as needed
  • Positive, compassionate approach to building student relationships

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Provide tailored instruction and resource support
  • Collaborate closely with general education teachers and paraprofessionals
  • Implement IEPs, monitor progress, and adjust plans as needed
  • Foster an inclusive, welcoming classroom community
  • Communicate regularly with families and team members
