Job Description
A school district in Edison, NJ is seeking multiple Special Education Teachers for the 20252026 academic year. These contract positions support students across preschool through high school, offering a variety of specialty teaching roles designed to meet diverse educational needs. The assignments begin as soon as possible and run through June 2026, with in-person interviews conducted to ensure a great fit.
Positions available include:
- Preschool Disabled Teacher
- Learning Disabilities Teachers for Elementary grades K, 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 5th
- Elementary Autism Teachers for ages 6-8 and 8-10
- Elementary Behavioral Disability Teacher (K-2)
- Middle School Teachers for Multiple Disabilities (MCI), Autism, ELA Learning Disabilities, Social Studies Learning Disabilities, Science Learning Disabilities, and Learning Disabilities (K-6 with certification for students with disabilities)
- High School Teachers for Autism, ELA Learning Disabilities, Math Learning Disabilities, ELA MCI, and Science MCI
Responsibilities:
- Deliver individualized instruction tailored to students with disabilities in alignment with their IEPs
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to develop and modify educational plans
- Utilize differentiated teaching strategies to meet varied learning needs
- Monitor and assess student progress, providing necessary adjustments
- Maintain compliance with state and federal special education regulations
Desired qualifications:
- Valid teaching certification in Special Education or related authorization relevant to assigned grade level and specialty
- Experience working with students with disabilities, including autism spectrum disorders, behavioral challenges, and learning disabilities
- Strong communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with families and school staff
- Flexibility to adapt teaching approaches to varying behaviors and learning styles
