Job Description

Make a difference every day as a Special Education Teacher working with young learners in a supportive elementary school setting near Ecorse, MI! This contract role focuses on serving a small caseload of 7 students in grades K-1, each with unique needs, in a classroom designed for success. Youll work closely with two dedicated paraprofessionals and enjoy strong support from an experienced SPED team and building staff.

Qualifications:

  • Valid Special Education teaching certification, with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) endorsement
  • Experience teaching in elementary school settings preferred
  • Ability to effectively manage a small, specialized caseload (K-1st grade)
  • Strong collaboration skills to work with paraprofessionals and support staff
  • Commitment to creating an inclusive, positive classroom environment
  • Must be available for full-time, on-site work

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) tailored to student needs
  • Collaborate with paraprofessionals to support instruction and classroom management
  • Communicate regularly with parents, staff, and SPED team members
  • Provide direct instruction and support using evidence-based strategies for students with ASD
  • Foster a safe, nurturing, and engaging learning environment
  • Document student progress and adjust instructional strategies as needed
