Desired Experience & Qualifications:
- Valid Special Education teaching certification (State of South Carolina or eligibility)
- Prior experience working with students with a variety of learning challenges and disabilities
- Strong classroom management and communication skills
- Ability to develop and implement individual education plans (IEPs)
- Collaborative mindset for partnering with general educators, support staff, and families
- Creativity, patience, and flexibility when adapting materials and instructional strategies
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and deliver engaging, individualized instruction for students with diverse learning needs
- Develop, write, and maintain student IEPs, monitoring progress and updating goals as required
- Partner with families, school professionals, and support staff to best advocate for student success
- Create a positive, safe, and inclusive classroom culture that encourages student participation and independence
- Assess student needs and maintain accurate records of progress and behavioral interventions
- Participate in professional development opportunities and special education team meetings
