This role focuses on working with a small caseload of 7 students in kindergarten and first grade, all requiring specialized attention and support through an Autism Spectrum Disorder Certification. You'll have the collaboration of two dedicated paraprofessionals in your classroom, along with strong support from building leadership and an experienced special education team.
Key Qualifications:
- Valid Special Education Teaching Certification, with emphasis on Autism Spectrum Disorder Certification
- Experience working with elementary-aged children, preferably in a K-1st grade setting
- Demonstrated ability to create individualized education plans and implement tailored instructional strategies
- Strong communication skills to partner with paraprofessionals and wider school staff
- Commitment to onsite, full-time presence for the duration of the contract
Primary Responsibilities:
- Provide direct instruction and individualized interventions for students with ASD, fostering both academic and social-emotional growth
- Collaborate with paraprofessionals, families, and multidisciplinary school staff to create supportive, inclusive learning environments
- Monitor student progress, update IEPs, and participate in team meetings to adapt strategies as needed
- Utilize evidence-based teaching methods and behavioral supports specific to the needs of students on the autism spectrum
- Engage actively in professional development and contribute to a positive classroom culture
