As a Special Education Teacher, youll work with elementary-aged students through both the SPARK program (resource) and cognitive impaired classes, fostering growth and independence across varied learning abilities. Supervision and support staff are provided, enabling you to focus on individualized instruction.
Qualifications:
- Valid Michigan Special Education Teacher license required
- Previous experience in elementary-level special education preferred
- Strong understanding of instructional strategies for students with varied learning needs
- Excellent communication, organization, and teamwork skills
- Comfortable working with paraeducators, RBTs, CNAs, or LPNs when needed
- Ability to cultivate a positive and inclusive classroom environment
Role Responsibilities:
- Deliver specialized instruction in SPARK and cognitive impaired classrooms for elementary students
- Develop, implement, and adapt Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
- Collaborate with general education teachers and related support staff
- Monitor and document student progress toward academic and behavioral goals
- Engage in effective communication with families and multidisciplinary teams
- Create a safe, supportive, and consistent classroom structure
