Make a meaningful difference this summer by supporting students in an Autism Summer School classroom. This contract opportunity runs from July 7, 2026, to August 6, 2026, and offers a focused weekly schedule: Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays from 8:00 am to 12:00 pm. Located near Detroit, MI, this position is designed for dedicated Special Education Teachers ready to bring experience and compassion to a summer learning environment.
Requirements and Desired Experience:
- Current, active Special Education Teaching certification required (no emergency or substitute permits accepted)
- Previous experience working in special education settings, preferably with students on the autism spectrum
- Strong understanding of individualized education programs (IEPs), behavioral support strategies, and evidence-based practices
- Compassionate approach with excellent communication and collaboration skills
- Commitment to fostering a positive, inclusive classroom climate
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead instruction in a classroom dedicated to supporting students with autism during summer session
- Develop and implement engaging, age-appropriate lessons tailored to individual student needs and IEP goals
- Collaborate with classroom aides, therapists, and families to maximize student growth and participation
- Monitor student progress and maintain accurate records of attendance, lesson plans, and goal achievement
- Establish clear expectations, proactive routines, and supportive interventions to ensure student safety and success
